Strawberries and Cream

Mags at Fraise Lachrymose created a craving for this delicious dessert after I read her post on Strawberries and Cream. Where has this dessert been all my life!? Mags, I don't know if I made it in true Fraise fashion and truthfully, I had to look up how and what exactly I would need for this dessert that simply screams Summer!!

I found what I think might be fairly close at wikihow and proceeded to get right to work! I did my own variation on the recipe.

First the very last of the fresh strawberries from our patch.

Sprinkled with a little castor sugar.

Fresh cream!

Whipped!

Ungraciously scoop big fluffy mounds of goodness into the strawberries.

Stir and savour!! Soooo good! I think we've discovered a traditional early summer dessert. Thank you Mags for tantalizing our taste buds!

Do you have a favorite simple summer dessert?

    1. No, it's not a Canadian thing that I'm aware of. I wish we had this growing up! Now that I've had it, I can't wait to have it again.

  2. This looks delicious and simple... its funny because I am just finishing a post on strawberry pies.. so I guess it is strawberry recipe week; Mine isn't quite as simple as yours though... I like how nice and quick yours is. I would just like to dive into that cream... and strawberries are always the best.

  3. Oh you've got it just right! So glad to see it in all its juicy glory. We're enjoying the local delicacy of Cartmel Toffee Fudge cake this week with cream, but I'm hoping that we'll still have some strawberries left in our patch when we get home.

    1. Ps I think Causey Pike really is always green. There would be enough snow in winter and rain all year round, even if it weren't for the vast swathes of bracken and fern everywhere. Everywhere is very green. It reminds me of home, but higher!

  8. If you want to go even more indulgent, you can crumble meringues into this, and there! You have created "Eton Mess".
