Chatter

Wouldn't you know on the first day back to school, they had to declare a fog day. I took the girls to school at nine and it was still very foggy. I rolled down the window and listened for traffic just to make sure nothing was coming.

Bub stayed home because when you're in high school and all bus zones are canceled, it is not cool to go to school.

I devoted today to computer work. I would have liked to continue working on editing puppy photos, but the Boy felt he needed the desk top computer to work on his photo projects. So I let him with the hope that there will be no more fog days this week.

So I sat at my little lap top while Peanut watched the Teedy Bear movie and then played outside. After the fog burned off it was a gloriously beautiful day!

I exported and published most of our adoption blog over here. So now it's readable to anyone. Anything that was really sensitive was deleted, but there really wasn't much to delete. So if you're interested in reading the finer (and perhaps dull) details of the journey, just click on adoption in the labels. I made sure I labeled all of those posts adoption.

I also flipped my very short lived Joy Dare blog over into here. I'm sadly waaaaay behind on the challenge, but I've decided it doesn't mean I can't catch up again -- yet. Any further behind, and I'm going to have a lot of work to do! However, if there are blessings in every day, does it really matter what month or what day I see those gifts. I don't think so.

Once I completed that, I created a new blog. Yeah, I'm a glutton for punishment. It's open. Anyone can read it. It's about food. I have an issue with food. I love it way too much! Yet at the same time, I get tired of coming up with healthy, tasty, and nutritional meals every day. Who doesn't though!? Sometimes you just have to get out of a rut.

Right now, I've set up a challenge for myself and the family to create and eat as much as possible from our freezer and the canning that is left. I buy staples and fresh stuff too, but the freezer needs to be close to empty by May when the rhubarb is ready to harvest. Somehow I think the rhubarb will be ready before the freezer is empty and I think some of what is left will be rhubarb. We like rhubarb and it is good for you, but the amount of sugar it needs to make it non-pukkery is atrocious!

I digress. The new blog is more specifically about the recipes that we try that are healthy and filling that we enjoy. I don't really care if someone from the Iron Chef tells me it's yuck (although I think they'd likely use a more flowery word) because it's about what works for my family.

Any hints or suggestions on what works for your family would be greatly appreciated!

  1. A fog day? Wow. Don't tell our local school district about that! (Seems like they cancel school at the drop of a hat already... sheesh.) It must be REALLY foggy!

Glad you had a good week with all the kiddos at home... hoping this one is very peaceful!

  2. Holy Cow, Deborah, the fog must have been something fierce to have to roll your window down to listen for traffic!! I love your new blog. I'm making poblano chicken, Spanish rice and spicy black bean sphagetti squash for dinner tomorrow night when the Engineer joins us.Havent decided on dessert just yet.
Look forward to reading about all your tasty recipes.
Blessings and extra prayers for you this week.

  3. I really wish I had your motivation! :) Great job! I was recently wondering about your Joy Dare Blog, and I'm excited to start seeing more posts! How exciting to start a food blog... I'm looking forward to that too. :)

Hope Bub had a good day off of school, and the girls enjoyed their day back!

  4. I've never even heard of a fog day! I guess we don't have them here. I read once about a huge accident in Ontario because of the fog, so I guess it's good that they don't run busses in those times.

I love food too, so I look forward to checking out your food blog.
