Several of you asked why I had to get better fast. It was because we were headed out Friday afternoon on a ski trip with our church youth group. We drove for five hours, slept in a church, and hit the slopes the next morning.
We skied ALL DAY. The hills weren't great in that the snow was mostly icy and pushed into random piles by skiers and snowboarders alike. I've never fallen down so much as this year -- not that we go very often (Last time was three years ago.) -- but I LOVE it every time.
Despite having a few good tumbles, it was a great time. No one got hurt and almost all of the youth skied all day. I love spending time with the youth. They're a really fun and interesting group of teens. We had ten of them in our van (we took Monster, our twelve passenger van), and since it's a five hour drive either way, we got to learn a little more than just Bub's perspective about youth culture. What a crazy and interesting world we/they live in!
I'm very thankful that everyone had a great day on the slopes and that we all arrived home tired, perhaps a little sore from falling, but with a new batch of good memories to hold on to.
How was your weekend?
How wonderful, Deborah, to get to be part of Bub's youth group. He will look back with great memories when he thinks of these trips and will have a lot of stories to tell your grandkids.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a great week.
Peace and love,

Glad you had such a good time, and everyone came home in one piece :D

Sounds like a blast! Lol! Yes, teenagers are very interesting! I always love youth trips! :)
ReplyDeleteMy weekend was great! Got to attend a wedding, with my friend Beka and then we served out church in the kitchen yesterday afternoon. After everything was done, we had our youth group super bowl party! Definitely a fun night!
Happy Monday!

sounds fun! no pictures??
ReplyDeleteKim, I do have some photos, but none of anyone skiing, so I didn't bother posting any. We have to buy a new point and shoot for me to take a camera up the hills with me. Maybe the next time we go (three years from now ;o)).
ReplyDeleteI have fond memories of ski days. When we homeschooled, our group had a special package deal with the area ski lodge. The kids really learned to ski & snowboard well.
ReplyDeleteI've never gone skiing, but it always looks so fun. I would like to drive a big van around with Jack and his friends, just to hear what they talked about and thought about. Jack doesn't tell me much on his own, I'm afraid.

ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that you were well enough to go and enjoy yourself. Modern youth culture? Sounds scary! ;)
