We sent our response off to P who will in turn send it off to the girls' social worker. Seeing as we've experienced the route of giving birth , I will say that one must definitely jump through hoops to adopt. It seems so ironic to know that there are so many children in foster care here in North America and more around the world in foster care or orphanages and yet it takes months (minimal) and years (plural) to adopt. It seems unfair that couples who would be amazing parents and want nothing more in the world than to be parents have to go through the pain and heartache of infertility, while the girl next door discovers she is pregnant and is totally unprepared to parent a child. No one said life is fair, but sometimes I just want to shake my fist at the injustices of it all! My heart aches for those who so desperately want to be called Mom and Dad, for the child who lives in constant fear, for the child who longs to have a family, for the young woman who is with child and knows she will be giving that child up -- a child whom she inevitably will love for the rest of her life. No matter how you look at it, adoption is messy. It involves baggage, it involves heartache, it involves work. On the other hand, adoption is a gift. It's a gift of life. It gives a child their forever family and gives both child and parents a hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord. " Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you a hope and a future."
