Yarn Along

On the needles this week. Something that is supposed to come out as a narrow wrap, but I have a strong suspicion I will run out of wool before it is any decent length. Then what I'll do, I have no idea yet. That's what I get for not finding and following a pattern.

I picked up Little Bee at a thrift store awhile back and put it in my must read soon pile. After finishing two books last week, I was ready to pick this one up and begin. So far it's an interesting read. There's a real aura of mystery to the two main character's stories. I have yet to discover how and why their lives connect and I want to know!

That's the trouble with some books, I have a very hard time leaving them alone and doing what I know I should be doing first. Do you have this problem too? If you do, please share with me how you manage to get done the must to's before the want to's. I'd love some help!

  1. Sometimes I can be disciplined, reminding myself of the pain of coming downstairs in the morning to find all of last night's dishes sneering at me from behind the morning's breakfast bowls and spoons and butter knives. But what I mostly do now, if I know I'm not doing the jobs I need to be doing, if I know that I am absolutely just not going to do the jobs I know I should be doing, well then I happily get comfortable with book or hook, and do something that will at least have some end product- instead of wasting hours on the Internet. And actually then I do get bits and pieces done in between pages and trebles!!

  2. I sort of liked Little Bee. I don't like to read too many distressing books. If I have a book I like, I rejoice in the book love and read as much as I want to. You have SO much to do all the time, Deborah. Yikes.

  3. I have trouble even STARTING a book because I know that I will want to finish it and neglect all of the "mama" things that must be done. But, I love where I am in life right now, running the "Choate Bed and Breakfast" and enjoying my family while reading tiny bits and pieces here and there.

  4. As I have a busy life, I only get to read at certain times of the day...usually first thing in the morning and last thing at night. But I do remember my mother sitting at the kitchen table reading. She would suddenly slam the book shut and scurry about the house, doing chores. It seemed odd to me that she would be so still one minute, then suddenly jump up and get busy doing all the things that needed to be done. When I asked, she said she used the books as a reward for doing the chores. And when she reached the end of the chapter, that's when she would close the book and get back to it. She loved to read and often said she had a fear of dying before she had read all the books. I thought that was a funny thing to say, but as I age, with a big pile of books I want to read sitting in a pile, I now know exactly what she meant. How you find time to read anything is totally beyond me!

  5. Oh boy. Books capture me. I have to hold myself back from starting a good book because I'll stay up through half the night finishing it!

    I'm no help at all!

  6. Pretty yarn! I think you earn a little reading and relaxing with all you have going on, and it is inexpensive and you don't have to go far to enjoy it. :)
