An Ice Rink?

This spring when we were in the Philippines, the farmer that tends the field around us accidentally hit the drain when he was planting his corn. It caused drainage issues all summer.

This fall, he plowed the drain right under. After several days of steady rain, we now have our own personal pond. The only problem we can foresee is that our waterline runs right along the edge of it, and some of our spruce trees are going to have wet feet all winter.

What we're really hoping for is a good deep freeze, so that some of us can go skating and others can learn to skate.

Stay warm :o)!

  1. What a blessing that would be! Your own personal skating rink. Forget the presents... well maybe just a pair of skates for all!

  2. Oh, how neat! That is just about unheard of here in Texas.

  4. Oh fun! I remember skating on the lake I grew up on when it would freeze - love it!

And with your pond, you don't have to worry about anyone breaking through and drowning - it's perfect!

  7. A perfect case of accentuating the positive. I just hope your waterline remains intact.

  8. That is so fun! At our old house, in the very back of our 5 acres there was a "dip" in the ground so when all the snow melted, it would make a mini lake. (as we called it anyway)

So nearing February and March, Erin and I would love to go out and skate when it was frozen enough.

    *Crossing my fingers for you!*

    Blessings,

  10. Did the "ond" stay?? That would be fun!! We can't wait to skate on our pond here. Right now the ice is perfect, smooth like glass, but with the warm temps it won't last. Probably melted this afternoon, it was mild here today.

Our dog got surprised when she went running out on it. She wasn't expecting it to be ice, this is her first winter. She was out following the girls while they went horseback riding and she loves taking a swim in the pond. :) LOL
