Today was an easy on the joints task. Paper piles have been starting to collect in little hot spots all over the house. I gathered them all up and brought them to our island in the basement.(I found a few more after I took the photo, but was too lazy to take yet another photo of more stuff.).
Once the piles were sorted, I filed them under R(ecycling), G(arbage), or in their proper homes in the filing cabinet. A little time consuming, yes, but nice to see a bunch of it gone again.
See those cute water bottle fish? There was a time (not so long ago) that I would have held on to them. Now I take a photo of them and toss them. Cruel? Maybe. But now that there are seven kids, I just cannot hang on to everything. (I'll let you in on a little secret. There are boxes of papers in the storage room that need to be gone through too. Up until adding three more children, I just didn't have the heart to part with a LOT of the first four children's stuff. These days, I'm feeling a little more ruthless. There's another project for me in the coming months. Perhaps someday I'll get back to scrapbooking...)
Now to focus on updating our family/household binder, and here's a fantastic link called 7 Habits of Highly Organized People that my friend Mary at Mary's Little Corner pinned on her board on keeping things tidy. I'm a highly organized wannabe! How about you?
That's it?! haha I was somewhat relieved to read (of course I don't mean to discourage you in any way) that you had boxes of piles in the storage room. :) I had a feeling we were some of the only ones with MANY paper piles to go through.
ReplyDeleteOf course we just moved, and there is more to unpack but I'll be posting about that soon.
Blessings,
~Michlyn
P.S. I'm anxiously waiting to maybe see a "sneak peek" of your adventrous storage room.
Oh, it's so hard to throw away those papers with beginning letters and cute drawings!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness the paper piles!!! Ack! how they DO pile up. I'm a highly-organized-wannabe-but-hoarder-at-heart :) I have to force myself to get rid of the kids' things, but it's true-as the years go on, it does get easier!
ReplyDeleteThat was a biggie for me ... realizing that I cannot keep everything and being able to toss it without feeling guilty. My little one brings home a pile of stuff from church 2x a week ... it gets overwhelming quickly.
