Today's Less Mess post is short and simple. This is a quick and easy way to get those ceiling fans shining again. I don't know about your ceiling fans, but ours run all summer long. Oddly enough they gather lots of dust even while spinning. I used to haul the vacuum around trying to get the brunt of the dust off without the sneezies and then going over them with a cloth. Now I've found a Real Simple way to get them dust free.
Exhibit A:
Ewww! One very dirty ceiling fan.
Exhibit B:
One pillow case. (This one is fleece. It belongs to one of the girls little camping pillows).
Exhibit C:
Pillow case wrapped around blade.
Exhibit D:
Yikes!! A really dirty pillow case -- and that's just one fan!
Repeat with other fans. Flip pillow case inside out and shake outdoors and then toss in the wash. Easy stuff!
Verdict: It works great! Now to get the fly doo doo off the blades. (Gotta love country livin')! That'll take a little bit of elbow grease and damp rag.
Exhibit E:
One very clean ceiling fan.
Have a great weekend! Oh, and if you try this at home, let me know if it worked for you.
what a GREAT idea!! I've only ever cleaned my fans once in the nearly 2 years we've lived here and you are SO right--grody stuff! I'll use this tip next time. Thanks!

What a great idea! We don't have any ceiling fans in this house, but in our old one we did! It got dirty so fast!
ReplyDeleteKeep up the great work!
