Summer To Do List

School is out!! I so happy to have all my kids home!! Because we likely won't be going anywhere until the end of the summer -- and even that's a big maybe -- I told the children that we need to come up with a list of fun and different things to do this summer, so here's our list. We're not guaranteeing we'll do everything, and there will likely be some things that we do that aren't on the list, but at least we will have some things to look forward to throughout the summer. Oh and just so you don't think that I came up with this brilliant idea on my own, a hat tip goes to Meg at Whatever. She doesn't know I read her blog, but I do and I LOVE it!

go swimming at night (at home -- not the lake)
go to the bridge for ice cream
Canada Day celebrations
have one fun and different dessert every week (Meg's idea)
camp in the back yard
go to the lake
have a picnic under the trees in the backyard
go geocaching
go hiking
go canoeing
take a day trip to a pretty town, walk it, and window shop
have a late night Tim Hortons run and get doughnuts
hot dogs around the fire
s'mores around the fire
pie iron around the fire
go to the library
watch a thunderstorm roll in at night
watch a thunderstorm over the lake
a rainy day movie day with pizza, popcorn, and all kinds of junk :o)
have some craft days
bake more cookies from our cookie book
read the Little House on the Prairie series gifted to us by my dear friend Annesta
eat sugar cereal for supper
find and eat at a Filipino restaurant when we go to TO to visit our adoption agency
teach Bella (and maybe the other two girls too) how to ride a two wheeler
make giant bubbles

Does your family have some fun things planned for the summer? I'd love to hear about them!

  1. Your family is so creative! Those ideas sounds wonderful! It's funny, because I was going to post our "weekly to-do list" tomorrow. (: Thanks for sharing, and maybe you'll see a similar list on our blog sometime soon.

    Prayers,

  2. Love the list! You'll have to try Casa Manila when you come to TO. It is midtown at Don Mills & York Mills Rds.

  3. Sounds like you're going to be super busy but doing lots of fun and relaxing things! I never get thru everything on my list of things to do during summer. The time just seems to slip by. Is your weather still bad up there? I just heard that we only had 3 days of sun during the whole month of June. Now that is depressing!!! I think I'm going to go crazy!!

  4. Renee, we finally had some sun, but today is cloudy and cool again :o(. I think it's just going to be one of those summers again. We seem to have them more often the past few years. Booooo!

  5. Your summer list sounds so inviting...let's see...my favorites...s'mores around the fire, ice cream at the lovely bridge, midnight run to Tim's for donuts....yikes, they all involve food! Oh, well, that's me...I love good food!
Oh, and btw, we are triple digits or close to every day..so, think about us on those cloudy, cool days!
    Hugs to all

  6. Love your summer list! And a great idea :D

We're keeping our summer pretty low key to save for some special plans later in the year, but it would be good to make a list of low-budget ideas the kids enjoy.

    Thanks for the tip :D

  7. Great idea to make up a summer's to do list. I think I might just copy your idea, I hope to take some more time and do fun things with the chidlren this summer. It is so easy to focus on all the work and forget to take time to do fun things. :)

  8. We haven't really made plans with the exception of visiting a sea turtle hospital. Injured sea turtles go through rehab (and surgery if necessary) there and are released back into the ocean if possible. My oldest is going to archery day camp for a couple of weeks, so my youngest and I will have fun visiting some thrift stores and a library branch we haven't been to in a long time. Today I surprised the boys by stopping by a lunch buffet they love. Family movie nights are usually on Fridays, but during the summer any night is fair game (just had one last night complete with homemade popcorn). We've been to a couple of matinee movies (to take advantage of the cheaper admission). We have a dollar theater nearby we might take advantage of depending on what's playing. They get movies immediately after they stop showing at the regular theaters. The boys and hubby have built a new birdhouse. Oh, we have a planetarium nearby that shows IMAX movies ... I'll be checking into that as well. Sounds like you have lots of fun and exciting family times coming up!
