We're mostly vegetarian. We eat the occasional chicken, fish a little more often, and the other meats even less frequently. Our reasons are many and varied, and I'm not going to go into them because this post is about the recipe -- not why we eat very little meat :o).
Our children love Indian food. Sometimes I think it's just for the naan bread, but whatever. All I really care about is that they eat their food.
One of our more local grocery stores carries this great line:
It's very authentic to the Indian food we've eaten in Indian restaurants in Toronto. In fact it says it's a product of India on the box. I however make it less authentic by using chick peas instead of chicken. Sometimes I also add peas, and/or raisins, and/or cranberries, and/or coconut milk to cool it down a little. It has a good kick to it, so we do tend to eat a lot of naan bread with it just to keep ourselves from breaking into a sweat eating supper.
The little girls are okay with it. I think the saving grace for them are the rice and the naan bread. Peanut also loves the chick peas!
If you like Indian food and can find this brand, I suggest you try it. We find it a very tasty very easy meal -- and you eat it with rice :o)!
Bon appétit!
Yum! It sounds like you are using up all that rice, Deborah!
ReplyDeleteYum! Sounds like a delicious dish. Maybe I'll be able to find it at our grocery store, or something like it... probably not, but you never know! (:
