Peach has a friend over, but when A comes over, all four of the girls play together. They too have gone from one activity to the next like a whirlwind. Occasionally stopping to eat some of the gingerbread house. At one point, I thought the second story of the house was going to come crashing down onto the mainfloor. It sounded like they had let in a herd of elephants. I'm still not sure what they were doing and I probably don't want to know, but at least we knew where they were :o).
Meanwhile, the Engineer and I have been working away on our own projects. He's starting phase two of the basement reno -- even though phase one is still incomplete. I'm cleaning (okay, was cleaning) our filthy house. The 2nd Law of Thermodynamics works very well in our home. Especially since for most of these three weeks off I haven't touched a dust rag. I didn't plan for three weeks off of housecleaning too, but it was just so nice to be able to spend time just being.
I have to confess that I am more than happy to see the back of 2009. Although there were some wonderful postitives that were a result of 2009, there are a lot of things I never want to have to deal with again. (None of the negatives were adoption related, I might add). Perhaps I should have spent New Year's Eve cleaning -- you know out with the old dust in with the newdust. Oh well, I was rather enjoying myself today. I took most of the decorations down, but did leave the tree and one of our nativity sets up. They will stay up until after Epiphany because we want to begin establishing Filipino traditions and they celebrate through to Epiphany.
Although the Engineer and I are rather focused today and would be happy with yet another week off, it is time. Time to get back into the busyness and routines of life. The kids need it -- even if we don't. It will be good to start school again on Monday, but I still don't think my house will be clean :o).
And because I don't want to start out the year with two pictureless posts in a row, I will shock you with the reality of my unorganizational skills and the Engineers ability to be very tidy.
September 23. The current catchall junk room. A sheer mess! Notice on the middle shelves second shelf from the bottom that there are two flutes.
The Engineer's work today. The room behind this was emptied and is being gutted. It will hopefully be Bub's new room before 2011, but if it goes the way our renovation that began in December 2008, who knows, it may be done by the time he's ready to leave home ;o).
Oh, and look on the first bookcase two shelves down. One lonely flute! No, I still haven't found the other one, but at least I know I still had it on September 23rd. I also know I didn't take it anywhere between then and now. So, I'm still looking...

Praise the Lord! I am so glad to know that someone else has a room in their house that looks like this! Actually, mine looks far worse--so bad I wouldn't even dream of taking a photo of it!
