Return of the Chore Pack

We have used these in the past with great success. It was time to get them out again.

They work very well!

The desire of the lazy man kills him,
For his hands refuse to labor. Proverbs 21:25

*** Some of you have asked for more details on these, so I put more information in the comments. I do find that this system is the best and most simple one I have ever used.

  1. Oh, I'm intrigued. That looks like daily chores, yes?

Do some get rotated, like the breakfast clean-up and dishes?

  2. I think I need a chore pack. I used to have (well, I still have it) a file box full of jobs. I NEVER do some of those jobs now! Never too late.

  4. The idea of these is designed by Steven and Terri Maxwell in the book Managers of their Chores. You can find them at: http://www.titus2.com

Each day the kids start with card number one and flip through each task until they have completed all their chores. Then they leave them in an agreed upon spot (our kitchen island), and it is Mom's (or Dad's)job to then check that everything was completed to the best of the child's ability. If they have not done all their tasks properly, they must go and redo it.

The last card in our packs have different chores for each day of the week. You can also remove the first pack and put in a different pack for afternoon/evening chores or even if you have one day for house cleaning in which all the children have various roles as well.

They come in the plastic pack with a clip so that the child can clip it to their clothing and it will remind them that they have work to do. This works especially well with a child who loves to play or goes off on imaginary tangents (I have one of those). When the pack is attached to them, sooner or later they feel or see it again and are reminded to finish their tasks.

I hope this helps! If you have any more questions, feel free to email me at: lavenderacres[at]xcelco[dot]on[dot]
