The 2015 Reading Plan of Action

Surprise! I'm starting off the new year with a post on the very first day. I'm pretty sure it is not going to be a forecast of great things to come, so don't get too excited my two dear readers.

If you read here occasionally, you will know that we live in a house full of readers and I am of course one of them. A couple of my long time friends are also avid readers, so when we saw the following reader challenge come across our computer social media, we decided to accept the challenge and hold each other accountable.

It's a pretty grand challenge, and I am not promising that I will even complete it, but I am going to try. Fifty-two books in fifty-two weeks, but not just any fifty-two books. They need to fit into fifty categories. I have found a book for most of the categories, but there are a few that are still missing.

The following is my list of books to read for the year. The ones written in red are the ones that I have not chosen a book for yet.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince by J.K.Rowling
Emma by Jane Austen
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson
Published this year.
Catch-22 by Joseph Heller
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey
The Neverending Story by Michael Ende

I think this list might be a little too lofty for me, but regardless it will be fun to see how many I will have crossed off by the end of the year.

What about you? Do you have any reading plans for 2015?

  1. I like this take on the 52 Books. I'm trying to read 52 in the 52 weeks of this academic year, and am maybe three behind so far. I find it difficult to find titles that I want to read, and I am very intrigued by your categories! They are very challenging!

  3. I think it would feel like work if I assigned myself that many books to read all in one year. Enjoy the ones you get through, and don't turn it into a job. I'm glad to see you have Still Alice and the Book of Negroes on your list. I read both this past year and would recommend them both to anyone. Another one I really enjoyed this year was The King's Curse by Philippa Gregory. I have never read any of her books before (I don't think) but I'll certainly be looking for more in this series. I have a good many books ahead of me at this point, too numerous to mention, and wish you luck on your challenge.....but like I said, just enjoy!

  5. I like reading other people's reading lists, and seeing their upcoming year's reading challenges. But it is quite a daunting thing for me. I do not read with the same intentionality as I did in past years. I read just because I must read and love to read.
But I am thinking maybe I should at least make a list...
Happy New Year and happy reading!
