The Annual vDG Family Reunion

A warm spell melted almost all our snow with the exception of the drifts that reached 8.5 ft. They're still hanging around. That being said, I think this is one of the very few times we've simply contended with rain and some fog on the road to the family reunion. Usually it is snow and wind.

In random order for no particular reason, some photos from the day.

Not technically an uncle to us, but related somehow. I just really dig his eyebrows.

See, we don't eat all goodies! It's a piece of starfruit. No offense to anyone, but the flavour kind of reminds me of an old sock :oD.

The Engineer's nephews. Can you tell they're brothers?

 Grampa dB.

Little D likes her big cousin and Bub doesn't mind being squished.

 Battleship!

One of the little second cousins. He's a sweetie!

Singing in the sanctuary. The vDG's are a singin'  family. One of my favorite things is when we sing THE DOXOLOGY ( Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow) right after lunch. We get a four part harmony going on with no accompaniment and it gives me shivers. No children may leave the room until after THE DOXOLOGY.

It was a good day. Visiting and of course eating. (I am truthfully to the point where I can't wait to do an exercise DVD)!

  2. That is some big wonderful looking family. Both my husband and I have very small extended families.

  3. Deborah,
You have a BIG family! What fun!
I know what you mean about needing to do an exercise DVD...today it was back to work for me. When my alarm went off at 4:30, I was so disoriented...I could NOT figure out where the annoying noise was coming from!! I will say it was good to work out after I swept the cobwebs out of my eyes.
I am glad you made it to your reunion safely and back home again.

  4. Deborah,
Starfruit tastes much better when you've just picked it off the tree. I invite you to come and try it :-)
