1000 Gifts

I always begin this post on a Sunday evening. It is usually a quiet time to reflect on a the day, the week past, and to prepare for the week ahead. I've been taken by complete surprise at how full and busy my life continues to be even with all the children in school. It's hard not to get bogged down with the busyness of life and all the must haves and need to's, but at the same time, I have moments where I am surprised by joy. Participating in The Gratitude Community has been part of what has enabled me to be surprised by joy. If you take, but a moment, you can see God at work in even the simple ordinary everyday things of life. Oh, He is of course in the big things too, but when you see Him at work in the daily grind, you will be surprised by joy!

Seeing God at work this past week in:
  • celebrating 17 years of marriage to my best friend on Sat, Oct 2
  • a puppy dog foot warmer
  • return of the flannel sheets on our beds. Cozy comfort.
  • children who continue to be each other's best friends
  • watching our two oldest daughters enjoy the teamwork of playing in a school soccer tournament
  • pumpkin spice lattes. Mmmmm, so good!
  • children who have adjusted wonderfully well to school
  • another photo session completed despite the rain and cold this weekend
  • a twelve year old master baker :o). Peach makes decadent treats!
  • a start on the summer to winter clothing transfer
  • a cozy afternoon nap
  • some adorable finds at the thrift store
  • another round of immunizations complete. We're ready to fly to the PI!
  • gorgeous fall flowers along the roads and in gardens
  • music. It fills my days and my mind -- whether it's my teenage son's or something flitting through my brain over and over and over again ;o).
  • doctors who are able to see one in a timely fashion -- not looking forward to my annual visit, but you do what you have to do!
  • bird song of migrating birds in the morning when I'm out with the pup.
In gratefulness for His blessings #'s 751- 767. For more thankfulness visit Holy Experience. You too can be surprised by joy!

  1. So glad to visit with you this evening. I can't really imagine flannel sheets in October. I just thrilled that we will not have temps above the 80's all week. It's just sweet heaven for me!! Mornings are lovely at 59 degrees.
I love that your children are friends...it says so much about your parenting and all that God is doing in your family. Your little ones will be so blessed to be part of your forever family.
And, pumpkin lattes...yes, so yummy. Would love to sit across the table from you and enjoy a sweet latte and conversation with you, dear friend.
praying your week is full of many accomplishments from your "to do" list.
