My kitchen is a mess, and there is laundry in need of being folded as well as loads to hang on the line. I ignored it all in order to finish a book.
Scared by Tom Davis is one of the most riveting novels I have read in a long time! It is a powerful novel that makes its readers aware of the AIDS crisis in Africa and the plight of these people. Written from a first person point of view of two different main characters, Scared, weaves a spell binding, nail biting story, of a down and out photographer and an amazing Swazi girl. They meet and lives are changed. I'm not going to give any details because you must read this book!
One thing that stood out for me in Davis' novel was the line, "I'm only one man, but it's something I can do to make a real difference. Remember what I told you about not losing the big picture?" This line is repeated in different ways throughout the novel. It reminded me how true those words are. One person can make a difference. Am I making a difference in someone's life today? Thank you to my friend D. for loaning me this book!
One final note! This book is not for the faint of heart. Some of the story made me want to wretch. I was angry and disbelieving that life can be so harsh and cruel. We live in such a fallen world, but yet we still see God's grace too. This book reveals both! Check out the link to Tom Davis' website too. You can learn more about the book and his work with Children's Hope Chest. Powerful stuff!
**This review is entirely my own. I was not asked by Tom Davis or anyone connected with the author to express my thoughts.
sounds like a good one. It is horrible the things that go on. But you said it right sister. He is good, and this is not our home!
