I mentioned earlier that the ruby throated hummingbirds arrived here a week ago today. Three days later, they were followed by the Baltimore orioles. I'm still waiting for some barn swallows. I've seen them when we're out driving so I know they're here, just not at our place. In a way that's a good thing because then they're not dropping their business all over the Engineer's car. (Both the oriole and hummingbird were photographed through the kitchen window -- thus the blur).
The finch babies are beginning to fledge. Another week or so and I believe they will be beginning their flight lessons :0).
The three robin babies hatched on Friday. They're weren't as cute as the finch babies. They looked like pink jelly beans. Not a downy feather to be seen. Today they're looking a lot cuter. Mrs. Robin was not very happy with me for peaking in her nest. I got a severe scolding.
Mrs. Mourning Dove just contines to patiently sit. Any day now though, I think.
So cool! I love barn swallows. Something about their flight is, I don't know, just perfect.
