Love to Read?

Katrina tagged me for this post so now I have to think hard...

Who is your all time favorite author and why?

I don't think that I have an all time favorite author, but if I look at my bookshelves, I am getting a rather large collection by Jan Karon. Her books are fun. She makes her characters and the town in which they live really come to life. Not only that she teaches/reminds you about what is important in life. God, family, friends, love.

Who is your first favorite author and why?

James Herriot. I read his books as a child. He has an incredible sense of humour and at that time I dreamed of becoming a veterinarian, so I devoured these books. Now my children are reading them and I hear the chuckles as they read through the series.

Do you still consider him/her to be among your favorites?

Yes, I have most of his collection. (I think I am missing one or two). I like how now my children are enjoying him too.

Who is the most recent addition to your favorite authors and why?

Sally Clarkson. I don't know if she has written more than one book but her book Seasons of a Mother's Heart was incredibly inspiring and encouraging to me. I plan to read it again over the holidays.

If someone asked you who your favorite authors were right now, which authors would first pop out of your mouth?

That would depend on if you were asking about fiction or non-fiction. For fiction, Jan Karon, Ted Dekker, Kristin Heitzman.... For non-fiction, Sally Clarkson, Christine Field, Steven and Terri Maxwell, Max Lucado....

  2. Actually, Sally Clarksen wrote a beautiful book called, Educating the wholehearted child. Even though I do not homeschool any longer, I will not let this book go. Thanks for your comment. Yes, it is very important for me to have my books neat. Last count I had over 3,000 books on my shelves. If I don't have some type of system for organization I would never be able to find the book I am hankering after.

  3. Thanks Deborah.

I like Jan Karon and Kristin Heitzman. I found that my library has Ted Dekker. Do you like Earlene Fowler or Philip Gulley?
