Nicaragua

Our firstborn flew out from Toronto early Friday morning. He is excited to be working with seven other youth and four adults in Nicaragua for ten days. He is working with World Renew. It's another dream/goal realized for him in his life. I continue to be amazed at the strong young man he is becoming -- not simply physically, but spiritually and relationally. He is such an extrovert! He is passionate about people, social justice, social issues, and change! He wants to make the world a better place. Even where he is headed in regards to university plays a role in his choices about social change. All of us families back home are praying for health and safety for the team for sure, but we're also praying for valuable learning experiences that continue to help these young people to grow in their faith, learn about their place in God's world, and how with God's help and grace, they can be the change they want to see in the world! If you're interested in what they are doing for the next ten days, you can follow along at their blog here. I know the families at home look forward to each new post very much!

  2. That is wonderful. I pray he will be blessed as he blesses and refreshes those who he goes to. The organization looks really good. Our oldest son Nathan went to a Teen Mission when he was 17. It greatly impacted his life. He went to Russia, Mongolia and China. They helped work on an orphanage among other things. Interesting how we ended up adopting from Russia later… no connection really, just worked out that way. Have a wonderful week, and blessings to you all.
