Snow, Snow, and More Snow

A great deal more went on this week than just the fact that we have a LOT of snow. There was snow day number five on Monday, a basketball tournament on Tuesday and a sick child who was supposed to be a the tournament, high schoolers to be picked up from exams, a child to be inoculated for their mission work in Nicaragua, the first university acceptance confirmation, a lovely date afternoon on Friday with the Boy at a piano concert, and well more snow. I have to admit, I was very thankful for Saturday. I caught a cold midweek which kept me home from church today with, a headache, some dizziness, and even some nausea. All I can say it's way better than a migraine and that yes, I've taken the hint am very much taking it easy today because this kind of headache can often lead to migraine and I want Monday to start off on a positive note.

On to the snow. I am shocked, surprised, thrilled with all the snow we have this year. With the exception of Snowmageddon four years ago where we got the largest, quickest downfall of snow ever in a few short days, I have never in my memory seen this much snow. Large sections of our road have piles well over 8' high. The graders have worked hard to push the piles back to create shoulders off to the side yet, but ironically, if you go all too deep on to the shoulder, you may just find your car up to the roof in what is actually a ditch. The ditches which we typically have and are generally quite sizable are no longer in existence. Really it's kinda fun! I haven't minded driving in it too much except for one day last week when I got the van stuck at the end of our lane. That day just wasn't a great day all around, but in the end, it all worked out fine. I like it best when I can sit by the fire with my knitting or a book and sip a nice hot cup of tea or coffee.

Now on to some photos.

For some reason all these photos look a little brownish. Believe me it's white! Here's hoping there are no more snow days for awhile. ;o)

  1. Wow that is a lot of snow. We haven't had we ought to have these last few years; although we did get a little this week end and are expecting some more later in the week… we are hoping to get ourselves out of the drought we have had these last few years. I don't personally long for the snow any more (like I did in my younger years), but I know we need it. Thinking of your getting stuck at the end of your lane, we did a little ice skating into a fence last night… got out, but it was a little scary for a minute; that was just in 3 or 4 inches of snow; but packed and icy. All of your comings and goings sound like a wonderful busyness; I can see you are getting ready for one of your chickies to fly the coup; exciting and hard all at once isn't it? I like to think of you by the fire sipping tea or coffee, with book or knitting; that's my favorite to be sure. The pictures are great; I even like that they are a little brownish as you said, it makes them look a little vintage. Have a great week, and I hope you feel better soon.
    Blessings,
    Pam
