Christmas Break Just Goes On and On.

The children were supposed to go back to school on Monday as was the Engineer. Here it is Tuesday and everyone is still home. No one is sick. We are just having very wintery weather. Monday was a snow day. We had lots of snow and blowing snow. It made the roads very unsafe for driving, which means the buses don't run, which means, the kids don't have school. It often also means that even if we wanted to, we can't get out of our lane. That was the case yesterday and today, for the Engineer. Today though, the children are home because this is southern Canada and in southern Canada people don't know how to dress for -25 Celsius weather or - 37 if you take into account the wind chill. We're in the midst of what the weather world calls a polar vortex.  Even though we had the laneway plowed yesterday, it filled in again just enough overnight that the van got stuck this morning. So, everyone is home for yet another day.

I'm not complaining though. We have had a very wonderful holiday. Puzzles, board games, all day pajama days, hot chocolate, snow fort building, sledding, book reading, movie nights, lots of sleeping late, slow lazy days.

I've been in my craft room off and on the last few days. Soon I will post some photos of what I have been doing. A lot of it is finishing up unfinished projects that have been laying around for years. Yes, some of them have been waiting to be finished for a few years. I will post a bunch in the next few days or so.

Stay warm everyone! Blessings!

  1. Hurray for extended break! We're envious of all your snow, but not so much the extreme negative temps. *shiver* Your little Philippina girls seem to have adapted wonderfully!

Happy New Year, and I can't wait to see what you're finishing up!

  2. We've had very cold weather here today (cold for us being a high of 25 degrees). No snow days yet, much to the boys' disappointment. I'm not a fan of snow, but I wouldn't mind seeing a few inches before winter's end.

Happy New Year! I love the new family pix--you're all just gorgeous!

  4. We are having warm weather compared to you, but our 6 degrees F made a two hour delay in the public schools! Charlotte and I did not have to go out until 10:45 for her piano lesson, by then it had warmed to 18 degrees F. To me it was COLD! I like the way your family chose to spend the day, games...in pj's even!

  5. As I was still recovering from that tummy flu, I didn't get to go outside during that cold snap either. I'm almost thankful that I was still weak, as weather seldom keeps me indoors when I feel the need to make my daily 10 block mail run. Being housebound by myself is one thing, but I'm sure glad it wasn't me that was trapped in a house with all those kids. I think you are down right amazing to be able to do that and retain your sanity. You must have the patience of a saint!
