Simple Woman's Daybook

Outside my window: sunshine, blue skies, birds singing, traffic whizzing by on the road.

I am thinking: I have a lot of harvesting to do this week -- and I had better bake again too.

In the kitchen:  Swiss chard, windfall apples, spaghetti squash, the beginnings of peach cupcakes.

I am wearing: workout clothes -- all black except for a bright pink sweatshirt

I am creating: tidiness out of mess, organization out of chaos, and chore packs!

I am going: to take one child to work and go for my walk while in town, drop another child off at a friend's, and maybe hit the beach or the town pool yet today for an hour or two with whoever is home and would like to go. We took our pool down on the weekend because it's been so cool and our pump broke three weeks ago, so it was turning into a pond. Yuck!

I am wondering: why some things take so very long for some children to learn -- especially when it's just a simple act of obedience.

I am reading: I am working on getting Dragon Rider by Cornelia Funke finished this week. I'd also like to get Tosca Reno's Your Best Body Now, but I'm taking notes with it, so I can't go through it as fast as I might normally.

I am hoping: to have a productive day despite the numerous interruptions that are sure to occur.

I am looking forward to: a swim meet on Saturday, some beach and pool time, some more corn on the cob, and a campfire or two. I want to enjoy the freedom of summer holidays yet while it lasts.

I am learning: that it is very hard to craft out time for exercise, but I'm trying.

Around the house: The usual piles of books, some laundry yet that children have not put away, a few dirty dishes, and a counter top of things that need to be canned or frozen.

I am pondering: balance, busyness, and living life as God intended.

A favorite quote for the day: Our goal in parenting is not ultimately for our kids to get a great education, or to be great athletes, or to find a great spouse, or to get a great career. Our goal is for them to love a great God!  ~David Platt

A few plans for the rest of the week: get stuff done and enjoy the sun!

A peek into my day:

We went to the beach yesterday and the day before already!

    1. Oh yes Mags, the water is quite warm! It's the rocks under the water they're trying to cross over. Ouch!

    1. It wasn't cold on this particular day. It's temperature is often regulated by what way the wind is blowing.
