Simple Woman's Daybook

Outside my window: cool, overcast and dreary. It looks like rain, but that's not deterring Carl the cardinal, or the robins from singing their morning songs. I so love having the windows open -- even if it drives my allergies to the edge of crazy.

I am thinking: about my dad and the nasty fall he took on Friday. Please pray for healing, strength, and patience for him -- and my mom too!

In the kitchen: lots of fresh in season fruit. We can't seem to get enough peaches! Broccoli, mangoes, and apples waiting to be prepared and frozen.

I am wearing: black linen pants, black peasant top with tiny white pokadots, pearl drop earrings, and flip flops. I don my favorite sweatshirt before I hit the pool.

I am creating: I have to get a photo ready for clients first and then I am building chore charts and menu plans.

I am going: to dentist appt's, an audiologist appt. for Bright Eyes, school cleaning, and back and forth to the pool of course!

I am wondering: why getting back into shape is so ridiculously painful!? It wasn't that hard to get out of shape. ;o)

I am reading: hoping to get Charlie and the Chocolate Factory finished this week. I finally gave up on Wuthering Heights. I just can't get into it.

I am hoping: that the way today started is not an indicator for the rest of the week. I slept in and therefore missed my morning walk. I need my walk!

I am looking forward to: I can't believe I'm saying this, but I am looking forward to school starting. Actually I'm having very mixed feelings about it this year, but I am longing for quiet mornings again to just get things done without it being undone less than five minutes after I've completed it.

I am learning: about soil care and amendment.

Around the house: dust dragons, baskets of clean laundry waiting to be folded, fresh fruits and veggies all over the counter waiting to go in the freezer or be eaten.

I am pondering: workout videos or gym membership? There are plusses and minuses to both. All I know is that I really need to start building muscle again.

A favorite quote for today: "Let all that you do be done with love!"  I Corinthians 16:14

A few plans for the rest of the week: get previously mentioned shoot completed today and work on a couple others that need to go up, move girls bedrooms around, tame the dust dragons, start weight training, (yikes!!).

A peek into my day:

I have mastered walking with a giant blister on my heel. It's not perfect, but it works. A bandaid, fun foam, duct tape, and a thick sock.

Happy Monday, my friends!

  1. Oh, you're poor foot! Hope your heel heals ;D And your dad, too.

What's the latest on Bright Eyes' and hearing?

And, oh SISTER, I think Wuthering Heights has to be the worst book I ever read. Don't waste your time!

Enjoy the remains of summer :D

  5. My mom is dreading us going back to school because then 'T' takes up her whole day & it's been especially hard. We're back August 26th, NOOOOOO!

Hope you finish all that you need too! I have also created 2 lists...things of stuff I need to do before summer ends and things I need to get. Lists are so helpful. Hopefully that blister of yours heals and you can start your walks with my comfort. :)

  6. I had to laugh at the dust dragons! I wonder what it takes for a dust bunny to grow into a dust dragon?

  7. oh my duct tape!! that must be some ouchie under there!! The Jeri Love Get ripped videos are really good for building muscles with minimal equipment you see results pretty fast too!! I am going to start them up again I have been very lax and not working out and I can't believe how much muscle I have lost. It doesn't get any easier as you get older. I haven't checked in with you in awhile. Hope your doing well have a wonderful rest of the summer xo Heather :)

  8. An acquaintance has been running a lot of races lately and also has blisters. I heard her mention duct tape, so I guess that's standard practice for racers. I'd never thought of it before. Nice to see how it works so thanks for sharing. Sorry it had to be demonstrated on your own foot though.
I do hope your dad heals as quickly as the blister does!
