A Graduation

Peach graduated from grade 8 last week Wednesday. She had class until noon. They had a pizza lunch with all the teachers and then were able to go home to get ready. It was such a busy afternoon of running (I picked up her younger sisters from school too) and the hottest day so far this summer that the photos are sadly very lacking.

With gramma and grampa. The only photo we got before the dinner. Thank you to them for looking after the rest of the crew while we enjoyed dinner with the other grade eights and their parents.

The dinner with the grads and their parents was delicious and even relaxing after the crazy running around we did earlier.

The photo session time was insane though as there was a small change in the schedule that caused the time for photographs to be cut in half. Sadly I was counting on that time to be when Peach would get a photo with the Engineer and I. It didn't happen :o(. I also didn't want to interfere with the actual photographer of the night who just so happens to be my BFF ;o), so I didn't take any photos that she was setting up.

Yes, there are boys in the class too, but just three. Good ratio for the boys, yes ;o)? Happily this is not a class that was into any pairing off! I have a daughter who has no patience for drama like that -- and I'm pretty sure several of her friends feel the same way.

The ceremony itself was beautiful! Some of it almost took my breath away! What a testimony of the faith that these teachers, parents, and even students have in the Lord. It was a real time of being blessed. The grade eights chose Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see", as their theme verse and their grade one/two teacher spoke on that verse. It was beautiful, heartfelt, and meaningful!

Appropriately the grade eight class sang What Faith Can Do by Kutless. It was accompanied by the words to the song and photos taken by Yours Truly and Hubby :o) on their class trip, on the wall behind them.

I didn't know whether to watch the kids or the video. The photos matched the words!! I needed a tissue at that point! If you don't know the song, here's the video:

Later all the students in the school went up. I won't post a photo of that, but I will say that the school is full of kids who love to sing. Here are the four soloists though:

Do you recognize one of them? They sang Come People of the Risen King. Here's the folksy version by Stuart Townsend:

After the ceremonies, Peach was simply giddy! I could hardly tie her down to get a photo of her with her school year partners in crime. These four young ladies were often up to something. I have enjoyed getting to know them and their families over the two years Peach spent with them.

Happy graduation day to all those graduating this year! May the Lord bless you in all you endeavour to do in the future.

  4. Yes, things will be moving at a slower pace now. It's funny, but I'm almost bored?! We have swim team, swimming lessons, and VBS to look forward to. I'm working in the kitchen, so when I'm done for the day, I'm done :0)!

    Enjoy your weekend!
