Homeschooling Curriculum for Sale

I have finally reached the point that it is time to sell off my homeschool curriculum. The children are all thriving in their school and really life at home is crazy enough without me having to attempt to teach them all everyday too. I'm embarrassed to say it, but I always breathe a bit of a sigh of relief when they're all on the bus. I sit down have a cup of coffee and just breathe.  Then I get to work :o)!

If you are interested in purchasing anything on my (super long) list, please email me at lavenderacres{at}xcelco{dot}on{dot}ca. It will be on a first order first serve basis. I will let you know the shipping and handling price based on your order and will send you an invoice via our paypal account. Once I receive confirmation of payment, I will mail your package and if I have a tracking number, I will email you with it so you can follow the progress of your goodies :o). (Don't you always feel like it's Christmas when a new package of books arrive?) I've never done this at all before, so I'm a little nervous, but it will be nice to see all our beloved books go to new homes where they'll continue to be used and hopefully enjoyed!

Writing Strands Level 2 by Dave Marks of the National Writing Institute $8.00 Writing Strands 2 is a manual for the parents of children about seven years old.  It introduces the skill of giving thoughts and experiences to others in written form. Writing Strands Evaluating Writing by Dave Marks of the National Writing Institute $8.00 There are some things that children do need that I am sure you can give them. They need to feel good about what they do. This is just like you and me. We need this, too, and we're adults. This is one of the very good reasons that so many parents are homeschooling. Their kids weren't feeling good about what they were learning (or not learning) in school. An important thing to keep in mind is that children want to learn and want to please their parents. As a teacher, what a great position you're in. Find something absolutely wonderful about what has been written and ask your child to read that aloud. Then ask your child to read it to you. Then ask your husband or wife to read it. And then ask your child to read it to you both because you both think it's so beautiful. Now your child will feel good about what's been written. At this point, rather than point out all the things that are wrong with the paper, you can show one or two ways to make it even better. Say that the writing is almost perfect, and to make it perfect, you have one rule that you'd like to explain. Read that one rule and explain how it works. Help your child apply that rule to the writing. This will demonstrate what that application has done to that almost perfect sentence. Now, read it again and call it perfect! Your children will break their hearts trying to write perfect sentences for you.

The Kids Book of Canada by Barbara Greenwood $10.00 The Kids Book of Canada is a made-to-order school project resource book about the world's second-largest country. Anyone seeking a general overview of this vast, diverse nation will be pleased to find so much information laid out in such an accessible manner. The four pages devoted to each of Canada's provinces and territories, and to the country as a whole, contain a short description of distinguishing factors, a quick facts box, and an illustrated map accompanied by notes--about the geography, points of interest, people, and events--that bring each part of the country to life. A timeline in each section traces the region's history from the arrival of Aboriginal peoples to the present. This condensed selection of material covers the basics, but it also features the surprising details that make each province or territory unique. For example, did you know that the oil-drilling project Hibernia off the coast of Newfoundland is in the path of hundreds of drifting icebergs that have to be pushed away by small boats?  There is a wealth of clear, colourful illustrations (although some of the portraits bear little resemblance to their subjects). Author Barbara Greenwood, who has a long history of turning research into engaging (and award-winning) historical fiction such as A Pioneer Story: The Daily Life of a Canadian Family in 1840, met with children and teachers across the country to make sure this book included content relevant to them.
