A Much Longed for Day

I had it!! Yesterday was one of those days I have dreamed of since, oh say, at least five months ago -- or more! The older girls had a P.D. Day. The Engineer took a day off. Bub was off to school though.

This is what he wore yesterday:

It was anti-bullying day. (Yes, these sort of things happen when you send your child to Catholic school. Too bad ALL schools -- public, Catholic, and Christian don't take more of a stand on this). Apparently my child has no issues with bullying on either end which I am thankful for.

We had a slower than normal and relaxing start to our day. Bella and Peanut are back on the upswing from the chicken pox. (Peanut started with hers on Wednesday).

I got some cleaning done and still had time to do some things I haven't done in forever.

I cut squares for a rag quilt that Beans wants to make,

put wool on my needles to make a slouchy hat,

dreamed of the fancy scarves that I would make from this book:

(If I actually owned it). I'm going to go on Ravelry instead and see what I can find.

I enjoyed a fresh veggie, pesto, and goat cheese pizza for lunch. Schezwan pizza (made by the Engineer) for supper, (yes, we love our pizza)

and even read a chapter or so from one of my current books on the go.

(Still not sure what my feelings are on this book).

In the evening we ate popcorn and rented a movie. (When you live in the country, you can still rent DVD's from the local variety store. Yes!!!) A perfect way to begin a weekend don't you think?

Hope your weekend is productive, but that you find some time to relax too!

  1. Sounds like a great, and relaxing day!! Can I ask what P.D. stands for? :)

Poor girls... Praying that Chicken Pox can escape your house and kiddos soon. haha the picture of Bub made me laugh. Did he wear it to spread awareness?

Good luck to Beans and you on your projects! Pizza and movie night is always fun! Agreed... living in the country or small town, you can just run real quick to pick up a movie.

  2. Sounds like a very lovely start to your weekend. I spent today cleaning, organizing and de-clutering. I'm tired but happy with what I was able to accomplish. My to do list is still pretty long.
    Hope your Sunday is restful.
    Blessings

  4. We don't have private school options where we live, though homeschooling is huge in our area. I went to an all girls school - so I know what the difference is - and it is huge.
So glad your son is able to approach bullying issues with confidence, brainyness and humor!

On the knitting front, I just finished a ton of scarves with Katia Triana Yarn - you have to see it to believe it. It's the biggest selling yarn in the U.S. right now. I'm wanting to do hats for the military to wear under helmets for winter next. I also just finished a baby blanket, 2 hats and a sweater for my granddaughter due New Years Eve - WooHoo! (I have 5 sons, 25-11).

So glad I stopped by to meet a fellow knitter with a large fam! Have a joy-filled Thanksgiving!

  6. What a blessing that your kids had the chicken pox!!!! Wish we lived closer. I would have had my kids go rub their little bodies all over yours! Chicken pox is so rare these days. . .unfortunately.
