22 Days to Less Mess (Day 12 The Master Suite)

Realistically there wasn't much to put away or organize in this room because it's my haven away from seven children and they pretty much know that too. Therefore since it's my getaway, I tend to keep this room very tidy because even though I can ignore messes for quite awhile in other parts of the house, when I need to escape, I want it clean and tidy. It makes me feel more relaxed and rested. Clutter and stuff everywhere makes me feel the need to get up and do something else, so aside from laundry day when I fold laundry on the bed, our master suite is usually pretty tidy.

One little tidbit I learned long ago is that making the bed is half the battle. As soon as the bed is made, the room looks significantly neater than when I first get up in the morning and more importantly, it prevents me from wanting to crawl right back into it on some days ;o).

Just so I don't bore you to death because I know what you really want to see it photos, here's my nook in our room.

My Bible, books I'm reading or plan to read, a favorite picture on the wall and on the table, a spot for my coffee or tea, a candle, all make it cozy and mine. (Yes, I see the picture is crooked. It's straight now -- just not in the photo :oS).

I think I need to add a cozy blanket to the mix yet....

  2. Oh, I so agree about making the bed and especially the part about crawling back in. So. Tempting!

I am glad you have such a cozy retreat to relax and have some quiet! Since we have moved I have been orbiting around the house trying to figure out the spot I like best for my quiet time, reading and computing. It is a tie between the bedroom and the living room.

  3. Ah, would love a reading nook like that! We always make our bed up every morning, too. It does help to make the room feel "done". Unfortunately, it doesn't always stop me from climbing up for a quick nap--just on top of the covers :)

  4. Looks like the perfect place to function as the "brain" of your home - where you go to gain the nourishment you need to overflow into your family. What a treat to have a special place!
