Pie Baking

It's that time of the year where our girls' school works hard on some fundraising. This weekend is fair weekend in our small town and that means that pies and tarts galore are being baked to sell at the fair. Yesterday, I spent almost six hours rolling dough for pies. I wasn't the only one of course. My two Littles went with me. (they played in the nursery). They thought they were going to school, so they were a little confused at first.

Here's our trusty crowd of senior apple peelers:

Men and women alike turn out for this and peel like crazy all the while catching up on life.

Some dough rollers:

And in the kitchen, the assemblers and bakers:

Despite the fact that I was fighting a migraine (I went longer than six weeks this time :o)!!) and that the dough was getting very uncooperative near the end, it was a good day -- and wow, did it smell wonderful in the kitchen!

I hope the cooler days (for most of you) are finding delicious smells escaping from your kitchen.
