Multitude Monday

holy experience

I am in the home stretch with counting my gifts. I am amazed at how cultivating an attitude of gratitude helps me get through these long winter days. I'm thinking that once I reach my 1000th gift that I will continue.

This past week was a little crazy! The Engineer was in Houston all week which meant I was on Mama duty 24/7.  I am very blessed to generally not have to do any taxiing (gift #966) in the evenings as the Engineer does most of it, but of course when he is gone, all this then falls to me. That being said,

  • #967 that my first ever car accident ( dumb, dumb me!) was in a church parking lot.
  • was with a level headed fellow believer.
  • that all five children remained very calm and
  • it was really a non issue to them.
  • very thankful that we were not out on the road!
  • best yet, he doesn't want to repair it because his car is old, so we have no expenses as a result! Thank you, Lord and dear kind gentleman!!
  • a husband who is passionate about what he believes
  • traveling mercies for the Engineer
  • the Engineer also got to meet and had a wonderful evening with my blogging friend Annesta and her husband.
  • he brought home for me a very special gift from her
  • she and I will, Lord willing, get to visit in May when she comes this way
  • a good albeit busy week single momming -- despite car accidents and driving in heavy snow streamers coming off the lake.
  • a youth pastor who is passionate about the youth in our church and our sister church with whom we share him.
  • parents who care enough to go out in -20 degrees Celcius weather to learn more about our youth programs
  • dollar days at the grocery store. I have nicely stocked up on a few items.
  • more narrowing down for our new kitchen. I just do NOT enjoy this sort of thing. I'm way too practical and financially wary.
  • two coffee dates with two different friends last week and a coffee date and a lunch date coming up with two other friends this week. I am so blessed in the friendships I have in real life and in the blogosphere.
  • crisp squeaky snow
  • bright sunshine all day
  • evergreen laden with snow
  • children laughing, running, and screeching while playing with the dog
  • a daily dose of hugs from my 14yo.
  • glorious sunsets
  • the wonders of meeting new people who share a common bond or interest via the internet.
  • aside from the occasional winter cold, everyone is staying very healthy.
  • #994 we are getting ever closer to travelling to the Philippines. Each day that goes by brings us closer to our girls!

Psalm 100
A psalm. For giving grateful praise.

1 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.
 2 Worship the LORD with gladness;
   come before him with joyful songs.
3 Know that the LORD is God.
   It is he who made us, and we are his[a];
   we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

 4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving
   and his courts with praise;
   give thanks to him and praise his name.
5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever;
   his faithfulness continues through all generations.

  3. Isn't it so exciting to be so close to 1,000. It has literally changed my life over this last year. We are so very blessed and I don't want to miss a single moment.
    Oh, my...an accident. Your first ever?? I would say you are a very good driver if you are just now having your first accident. So glad all turned out ok.
    I can't imagine going out in the weather that you all have...I think I would just wrap up in a blanket and stay in for months and months...so, yes, parents that go out to investigate a youth program...such a blessing!
    Hope your week is productive and enjoy your coffee and lunch dates.
    grace to you

  4. I'm so glad the accident wasn't *too* bad! That is definitely something to be thankful for!

    How exciting that you're so close to 1,000. I imagine it would be hard to stop taking note of things once gratitude has become such a habit.

    Hope you're having a good week!

  5. So glad no one was hurt in your accident! You are so close! Goood for you, I just started my list in November or december, can't remember right now, but I have enjoyed doing it. Amazing how having gratitude can change your day and way of thinking. :)
