A Little Something You Might Not Know

I thought I'd let you in on a little something about me that usually doesn't come through on my blog here. If you stop by regularly, you likely know that the Engineer and I are professional photographers. However, you likely don't know that I would love, love, love, to shoot this kind of stuff too! Scary, I know, but thrilling?!?! Most definitely!! I guess you could say I have a bit of an adventurous side.

Now I have a question for you. If you were me, and you (might) have the opportunity to go storm chasing would you go? It wouldn't be until the summer because obviously I'm not quite able to go to Kansas or any of the other tornado capitals of North America. The summer is prime season in tornado alley here in Ontario and it's not too far a drive from where we live. As much as I would LOVE to go, I think this year I will have to pass. Somehow having three new Littles at home while I'm out chasing storms seems well, er, just a little irresponsible on my part. I would like to attend the storm spotter training though.

I love to know your thoughts on this crazy thing you didn't know about me :o)!

Blessings!

  1. First, you need to talk to my friend, Wyndee, who lives in Kansas and lives in morbid dread of twisters every day of her life. That may help you make your decision. You can link up with her blog through mine. However, the pictures you shared are really interesting. Would I do it? Nope! But, I'm a whimp. If I were adventurous, I'd probably be all over it. The extra kids may complicate life a little though. Wait and see how they adjust, is my advice...maybe a trip for 2012?

  2. Sounds like a good plan for the future maybe you are unable to do it right now but definitely keep it in your pocket. For now though you could always chase rainbows lol :) ~Love Heather

  3. WOW! That is very interesting. I can imagine you and all your sweet children in tow chasing storms. I can see that in your future! Perhaps not the immeadiate future but get training now and wait for the right time and I know you will capture some of God's awesome handiwork!!
    Hope your weekend is great!

  4. Yes, I think it's crazy, and yes, I think you should go if you get the opportunity! (I do think it wise for you to pass on it for this year, though!)

  5. I love your sense of adventure. I prefer the calmer side of life-I tend to like things predictable, but I appreciate people who love adventure. Add storm chasing to your list of "things to do" and save it for a better season in your life. Adding 3 little ones will create an adventure for you this year! Good luck with future photo ops...I always enjoy the pics.

  6. It sounds awesome! I would love to do that. The thrill of wondering if it would come your way and get you would be amazing. But you are probably right, your babies my not understand if their mama up and went to heaven so fast :O)

  7. While I am awed by pictures of tornadoes, I am wholly terrified by them. I'd take California's earthquakes any day. So, no, I would not go!

  8. WHOA! Those pictures are amazing! I actually kind of agree with you--I think it would be an exhilarating part of God's creation to capture. But first I'd have to get over my fear of tornadoes :)

  9. I'm with the other Heather and I say go chase rainbows. I'm definitely not into the storm chasing thing. And with all those kiddos, I might wait.

  10. Wooo! Adrenaline!

I don't think I'd do it when I have kids to raise, but it sure looks exciting!

  11. Don't do it. Why must storms be chased? Take pictures of little brown hands, swim suited darlings running and floating in the pool, picnics with big sisters and a sweet big brother . . .
You'll get scads of amazing pictures when you fly to the Philippines.

  12. It sure would be fun but I would only do it if I knew I couldn't get hurt. I am more of one to be in the basement. :)

Will love to see your pictures if you do it!
