Keeping Busy

Here it is Sunday night, and I have hardly blogged all week. Oddly, I thought I'd have more time with the kids in school, but I guess not. I think it's a distraction issue. When the kids are home, I'm interrupted so often that I use the blogging as a distraction. Now that the house is virtually dead quiet (it still feels odd) during the day, I have no need of other distractions and can focus solely on the task in front of me.

It was a busy week again as well as another busy weekend. On Friday afternoon, I helped the girls' school's catering committee get ready to cater a wedding for Saturday. In a way I would have loved to have been a server at the wedding too. The hall was so pretty and they looked super organized! Besides, I always love seeing what the brides and bridesmaids are wearing :o).It's a lot of fun working in the kitchen with the other ladies!

It was also the weekend for our local country fair. We went Friday evening to check out the exhibits, the rides, and visit with other friends and families from the area. The biggest hit was the petting zoo, where we all fell in love with the baby alpaca. He has the softest fur!

The girls marched in the parade with their school on Saturday, even though mere minutes before the parade was slated to start it was still raining. By the time the parade was moving by us, the sun was trying to peek through. I still think our rural fair parade is one of the best ones in the area. Maybe it's just because we know so many people in it -- or perhaps its the candy they throw out ;o).

On Saturday evening, we enjoyed hosting our adoption group's get together. It was so nice to hear where the other families are at and to celebrate a new arrival with one of our families. Two families (us included) will Lord willing, be traveling in the new year to bring home our children and two more are waiting to receive their proposals any day now (K, I know yours is coming soon!!), which means we could have six children home with their forever families before 2011 comes to a close. Oh, wouldn't that be amazing!!

This little guy is now six months old! He is the sweetest and such a happy little fellow!

Today has been very quiet and restful -- after the Engineer reminded me that I was teaching Sunday school that is. I completely forgot that I had to teach today. Good thing I have a fairly small class of mostly girls who are very happy to roll with my unpreparedness.

Our family (even the Engineer) is enjoying loving one of the little black labs. We are very torn about whether to keep this sweet fella. As much as we already love him, we know that he will consume (literally) another large chunk of money that we really do not need/should not be spending. It's a tough tough call. Thankfully our friends D and S are quite happy to let us borrow him until he goes to his permanent home which still may or may not be ours. It's been a lot of fun to have this little guy around, but he is a lot of work -- as are all small creatures. Currently he is peacefully sleeping on the little girls' beds.(They pushed them together, and he is sleeping in the crack. They of course think that that's just THE COOLEST thing!

Meanwhile, Murray and I are dancing the night away! Actually, it is too cool for dancing on the beach anymore, but we gave Bub a crash course in shooting in manual and took a few shots on the beach this evening before the sun went down. This was one of my favorites.

  1. Wow, are you inside my head? I just wrote a new column for Really Good Stuff about how eerily quiet my house is now that I'm not working. Plus, we went to a county fair today and I'm posting blog photos (not nearly as good as yours) tomorrow.

However, I absolutely did not dance on the beach. How ROMANTIC!!!! I am so jealous.

    Great pictures! I love them.
