About August

I always have mixed feelings about August. I love the hot, humid, sultry days we canhave, where off in the distance you can hear the rumble of looming storm clouds. I also love the humidity free days where the sun beats down on you, and the only relief you find is in the cool breeze, or in the shade. It's that cool breeze though that inevitably reminds me that it's August. Suddenly, no matter whether the wind is blowing from the north or the south, it's cooling. The shadows are longer and deeper, the robins here have already left for warmer places where the worms abound, night falls much more quickly, and the mornings are downright cool.

The longer shadows, cool breezes, and chilly nights begin to usher in fall. Autumn as the season itself, I love! I just don't really enjoy all the busy life stuff that fall holds. This year is going to be a little different, and frankly, I am not looking forward to it. I like new work books waiting to be filled. The sharpened pencils waiting to be worn down, my children's excitement about what we will learn this year. I am dreading sending them all to school.Yes, it makes perfect sense for this year, and I know the reasons why we're doing it, but I still don't have to like it do I? Please say I don't?!

  3. Only this morning I prayed that the Lord would create in me a heart of flexibility. I struggle with change and I can get anxious over new schedules...prayer is always the key for me.

  5. I have mixed feelings about autumn, not that I experience it anytime as soon as you do. I was just talking to a friend about how hard change can be. I am certain God uses it to work new things into our hearts and souls and it is always much better in hindsight than it is in foresight.
    Prayers and hugs,
