An Epiphany of Sorts

I've been quite enlightened in the past week or so as to why I don't accomplish what I think I should. It's become very apparent that I am a list maker in a big way. I forgot that I used to be very much a list maker. However, as the number of children increased and my days became busier with homeschooling, church commitments, and just life in general, I quit making lists.

One of my dear blogging friends, Cathy, at Cherith Revisited introduced me to the wonders of listography.com. I have suddenly become a bonafide list maker again. It's doing wonders for me. Somehow seeing it neatly in print, that you can draw a line through it when you've completed something, and knowing that other listmakers might just read my list has made me a little more driven these days. Not that I cross everything off any of the lists I make, but they are helping point me in the right direction again towards actually feeling like I've accomplished something, as well as getting organized! Better yet, I can't lose the list and therefore use it as an excuse to not do anything.

This week's list was shorter than last week's -- not that there isn't still plenty to do, but it's been so hot that many of the things I think about doing nearly make me wilt, so I'm not going to put them on the list of things to do until the weather is more agreeable. We have spent a lot of time swimming this week! It's been fun and good for building memories with the kids. How many summers can they say they swam before breakfast or after dark?

Anyhow, there's my epiphany! Now I'm going to go for another swim, and then maybe I'll make another list :o)!

  1. List do help with organization. Generally, I make a list at work before I leave for the day so that when I get in the next morning I know right where to begin!
I hope it cools off some!

  2. I am pretty random with my list too. I feel like they help me more to write them, not to go back and read them. But I will totally check this out. Thanks!!!

  3. I was just thinking about you.
So thanks for stopping by... I've been off and on the computer, so need to catch up.

I make lists and then lose them. sigh.
but often just the writing out helps. or helped. I do find my memory a little hit and miss lately. Is this a sign of aging?

sitting here listening to a storm , finally, and I hope we get some relief from the heat now.

what a perfect year for you guys to have done the pool thing.

  4. I make great lists for things like grocery shopping, let's say...and then I either leave them at home or forget to buy 1/2 the things on them even though the list is right in front of me. Maybe I need to check out listography.com

  5. Don't forget to make lists at the end of the day. Include things like:
    1. ate a beautiful bowl of ice cream
    2. smooched husband and told him he's amazing
    3. whispered prayers in thankfulness for numerous blessings
    4. folded a load of towels and smelled them - delicious!

    YOU are the best, Deborah!
