Family Fun Weekend

We booked Saturday off from doing any formal photo shoots and left town with my mom and dad, brother and sister-in-law, and niece. (My nephew was camping with his boy's church group, so he missed out, but I'm sure he had fun too)!

We met up for lunch at a fabulous Indian restaurant that my SIL had made reservations for earlier in the week. We were celebrating my parent's wedding anniversary. The Engineer, kids, and I arrived earlier than the rest of the family, so we took a little stroll through the town. It was beautiful. Lots of history, sweet little stores, and beautiful gardens. We even caught the bag piper who plays daily around noon.

After we all enjoyed our lunch of chicken madras, butter chicken, naan bread and various other delicious Indian dishes, we drove a few short minutes to another beautiful little town, where we spent the afternoon hiking and exploring. This town too had many beautiful (expensive) shops, but with eleven of us, we mostly avoided the shops -- although some of us enjoyed ice cream cones late in the afternoon.

It was very fun to get away with my family for the day. We had a lot of fun exploring -- and yes taking pictures too!

Bub and Peach acting cool :o).

Beans and Squirt on an old wall. The historical architecture was so beautiful.

My mom and I through an old factory window.

The Engineer and I.

Looking up at the cliff overhanging us.

My brother and niece in the cave.

The Engineer shooting down out of a hole in a huge cave. Mom is on the other side of the river and my SIL is beside me. Somehow she managed to elude almost all the photos.

Me shooting up at the Engineer.

Ice cream with Grampa! His treat!

Squirt and Grampa trying out the wooden couch. They said it wasn't really too comfy :o).

On Sunday night my aunt celebrated her 70th birthday! We went to a big birthday party for her, and I confess, I deliberately left the camera at home. I wanted to enjoy visiting with the people -- and I wanted to relax. We did exactly that! It was a lovely evening -- good food and conversation. Best of all perfect weather!
