Hello from T-O!

We survived day one of PRIDE training!! This was supposed to be the toughest day, so here's hoping we don't need the Kleenex boxes on the table tomorrow!

Yesterday we visited our adoption agency only to discover that we cannot adopt from the Philippines (because neither of us is Filipino)-- at least for a few minutes that is what we thought. In the end it is still a go, but we do have at least a two year wait time. We already figured that anyway, so we're good. Our agency may need to work a little harder, and we may have to be a little more flexible as far as the age and the health issues of our child, but in the end we walked out still in the process.

Even being in Toronto taking training does not make this new path in our life any more real. I don't think it will seem real until we are on that plane to the Philippines -- and that is still a long time away.

On another note, we have very much discovered that we like our home in the country. The traffic here is incredible. We were late for training this morning because the traffic from our hotel was so heavy. Tomorrow we will leave twice as early!!

  1. I love reading adoption updates. It's neat to follow along through the whole thing - then rejoice when the family is added to!

How far from Toronto are you? I've never been farther East than central Alberta, so it seems like a foreign country to me!

I'm glad you're still able to go ahead with your adoption plans. It sounds so scary and exciting!

  3. We live about three hours from Toronto. Far enough away that we are totally ingnorant with how things work there (such as traffic) until we've been there a day or two. I took lots of pictures through the windshield just to give you an idea of what it is like, but I can't post any until our main computer comes home from the shop. Hopefully tomorrow!

  4. Hurray for progress :0)

I can totally relate about the traffic. We were in Seattle at a homeschool conference for the weekend... love my small(er) town.
