Our Snoopy Dog

I have to get this post out of the way, or I will never post again. It is simply a very difficult post.

Friday was an awful day! If you follow my blog at all, you know we've had our share of animal deaths over the past year(s). Well, it breaks my heart to say this, but we have reached the final chapter.

Our sweet, young, energetic Snoopy dog was struck by a car Friday morning. It came as a total shock because she usually doesn't leave our side when we bring her out for her morning duties because she knows she is going to get a treat.

We will never know what happened, but one minute she was at my husband's side and the next minute she was gone. You would have to see her in action to see how fast she can run and we have a very long lane. She either saw or smelled something -- or simply had a moment of spring fever as it was already +12C at 6:30am.

Both her back legs were very banged up -- not that we could see (the x-rays showed it), but surgery would have cost more than five thousand dollars with no guarantee that she would ever walk normal let alone run and jump again. So we made the decision that every pet owner hates. We had to put her to sleep.

My heart breaks. She was my dog. I was her alpha (fe)male. I did get a kiss lick good-bye though. We will all miss her. Our house seems so empty without her to greet us, but at the same time, not one of wants to go through any more heart break for a long long time.

For now, we have closed the book on being pet owners...

  3. Oh Deborah! I am so, so sorry! This is so awful... I can understand that it was hard to write about. I have seen your dog in so many past posts that I know how much she was loved and how much you all enjoyed her. Wishing you peace and comfort in this sad time.

    Blessings,

  8. I hope that knowing there are people who share that pain will help lessen it.
This was that kind of year for us and I intended to be pet free for a while.

No can do; having four-footeds around is as important to me as having my bed to sleep in.

I am sorry for your loss.
