The Bookworm Award -- Fun!

I was awarded this before our server malfunction, but still wanted to do it. Julie at Herding Grasshoppers gave me the Bookworm Award, but there's a catch.

Quick find the book closest to you, turn to page 56 and type in the fifth sentence and a couple more after that.

Would you believe that it was my grade four Bible lying right beside the keyboard?(I checked the day I read the challenge) It was!! There was a smattering of other books on the table too, but my Bible was right next to me.

So, page fifty-six, fifth sentence is Genesis 48: 19 "But his father refused and said, "I know, my son, I know. He too will become a people, and he too will become great. Nevertheless, his younger brother will be greater than he, and his descendants will become a group of nations."

Now I need to find five friends who would be willing to do this too, So I have chosen the following five:

1. Bobbie-Joe at My Journey Home

2. Brittany at the BK

3. Flmom

4. Linda at Remote Treechanger

5. Sonja at One Step Away

Quick, look near you! What book is closest to you that has fifty-six pages?

  1. You have no idea the decision involved in choosing a book right there. I was sitting at my desk with a multitude of books around me. Please don't laugh at the selection.

pg 56, 5th sentence down on the Broadview Anthology of Fiction
    (short Biography of Kate Chopin)
'She graduated in 1868 and in 1870 made her debut into St Louis society. During a trip to New Orleans she met Oscar Chopin, a cotton trader and plantation owner; they were married in 1871. The couple moved to New Orleans, but their fortunes failed, in part because a succession of bad cotton harvests.'

  4. Yea, Deborah,

I picked up my Bible too, (equidistant...) but p56, 5th sentence, had to do with Zipporah and a flint knife and a foreskin, so I went with Hannah Coulter :0)

  5. Lol! Julie, I will admit, I hesitated when I picked up mine because I knew it would be an OT scripture and as we now both know, they can be quite, how shall we say, interesting :o)?
