Simply Sunday

As the children have become older, I have really begun to enjoy Sundays. Rainy or sunny, busy or quiet. This Sunday was a little more busy, but regardless, it was certainly enjoyable.

We had to be at church early because the Engineer was one of the actors in a tableau. (A tableau is a skit without words, only a narrator. All the actors wear black and freeze frame each scene). It was beautiful and really stirred my heart. It truly brought to life the story of the Apostle Paul and the jailer. What an incredible time in history that was. How could one not be moved to ask Christ into their hearts and be baptised after witnessing what the jailer himself had witnessed!

After church we headed over to my brother's with children and food in tow. We spent the day there with them and our Columbian friends. The boys' English is really starting to pick up. We still use the computer as our translator, but now it is more for things where we need to be sure not to get our wires crossed. We certainly share a lot of laughter regardless of the inability to always understand.

It is evening now. I am still full from our lunch, so the Engineer and the kids are having a light snack while I hide :-) in the basement thinking about our day.

We also had communion today. While the plate was being passed, this song by John Michael Talbot from his album Heart of the Shepherd was being played. What a beautiful song/prayer -- and the words are so true. May we look on our world with compassion.

St. Theresa's Prayer

Christ has no body now but yours
no hands, no feet on earth but yours.

Yours are the eyes through which he looks
compassion on this world
Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good
Yours are the hands with which he blesses all the world.

Yours are the hands,
Yours are the feet
Yours are the eyes
You are his body.

Christ has no body now but yours,
no hands, no feet on earth but yours

Yours are the eyes through which he looks,
compassion of this world.

Christ has no body now on earth but yours.

  1. Ahhh, Sunday :0)

It often feels like a battle on Sunday morning, with chaos winning. Well, it IS a battle, to keep us from worshiping. I have to remind myself... to "arm" ourselves!

But, oh, the joy of being in church, worshiping God, with like-minded believers.

    Happy Sunday,

    Julie

  2. Thanks Julie!

I hope you had a happy Sunday too. It is good to be in the Lord's house each week.

I love how you write out what your SS students are learning each week. It's great -- bad spelling and all. I would like to do that with my students too when I take my turn teaching. It will be fun to see what they are learning.
