Joy Filled Moments

I never realised when I started blogging how much I would enjoy it. I had been thinking about doing it for over a year, but was very hesitant to make my life "public property". That hesitancy is what had prevented me from ever starting -- that and the fear of having nothing to write about.

I finally decided that I would approach it as I would my journalling. Before kids, I was an avid journaller. It quickly became the last thing on my list as babies two, three, and four arrived. I always knew I wanted to get back into journalling, but it didn't hold the same appeal that it did before the children were born. Words didn't always do my feelings justice, so I just quit writing altogether. With blogging, I can put pictures in to enable a better understanding of the moment. Being an avid (although not always great) photographer, including pictures really appealed to me.

I still don't like the idea of my life being on display and I try to be very careful about what I write because I hate offending people. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and I mine and I did not start this blog to use as my soapbox. My blog has become my haven -- a place to record the simple joys and the beauty that daily life holds. Believe me! My life is nowhere near perfect. I blow up at my children, there are small messes everywhere, a garden with weeds a mile high, things in need of repair, school lessons to mark, and laundry that still needs to be folded. But, if at the end of the day, I can look back and find the joy filled moments in it then I was able to find joy in the simple things.

So what were the joy filled moments today?

-An early morning walk with the Engineer.
-A cup of café mocha.
-The delighted giggles of my children.
-Getting the just barely hung up clothing off the line before an afternoon thunderstorm.
-Afternoon coffee with the kids' piano teacher.
-Watching the expressions play on my children's faces at dinnertime.
-Listening to André Bochelli. What a voice!
-Good night stories and hugs and kisses with the kids.
-A kitty curled at my feet.
-And looking forward to snuggling with the Engineer.

  1. Beautifully said....I hope your life continues to be filled with joy filled moments every day!

There is something really neat about blogging, eh? The fact that a few people read what I write every day just helps give enough incentive to keep it up...I don't need a big audience, but it is nice to have some people reading.

  4. I have never been one to be able to keep a written journal. I have tried many times and given up quickly each time. Blogging is the first journaling type thing I've actually stuck with!

You have a nice little place here to visit. :)
