Hangin' Out

It was mostly a typical spring Saturday around here. Up early, make a special treat for breakfast, and maybe go for a walk. Then get the work started around the yard.

Close by Gramma and Grampa stopped by for a visit this morning. Their grandchildren have missed them greatly as they were in Holland for two whole weeks. Gramma and Grampa brought a treat straight from Holland:

There were mixed reviews about them:

If you are wondering what they are, they are called droopjes (said in English droppies). Believe me the Dutch have some strange names for things. Would anyone really want to eat an oil ball? Olliebollen are basically doughnuts, and if you really think about it, the words dough nut don't sound too appealing either. I know, I'm off topic, so I'll try to get back on track. Like I said, there were mixed reviews about them:

Once we had viewed Gramma and Grampa's hundreds of pictures on their laptop (I so want to go to Holland in the spring and see all the tulips at the Keukenhof), we all strolled the yard, and Gramma and Grampa headed home to do yard work.

We did yard work all day too. I guess the kids are used to their parents being busy on Saturdays in the spring because most of the time they amuse themselves quite well. Today we had a nice icy north wind (AGAIN!!), but that didn't seem to stop them from playing with the hose or pushing each other up and down the lane on the skateboard with no coats on.

They also helped out a little, read their books, rested in the wheel barrow, and danced in their imaginary world.

Now all, but one is clean, and all are in their beds -- although judging by the noise coming from upstairs, they are not asleep. Regardless they will get a little lecture from the Engineer, and then we will watch a movie in our messy basement. :-) Ahhh! Peace.
